I am a big fan of Schoolboy Q's but a bigger fan of Isaiah Rashad. If you know about Isaiahs music you understand why. The show was dope, all of the performers had great energy. The show also included Audio Push and Vince Staples. I will post some pics of them sometime soon but for now here is the main event.
The homey Hawkbeatz hit me to do some shots of him and cuban rapper Mikkiflow. I was trying some new lighting experimentation. Here are a couple shots I was digging.
Here are some shots I have been sitting on for a while of my friend Anwar out and about doing his thing.
If you really consider yourself a hip hop head, then you have to know about The Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito radio show which ran from 1990 to 1998 it featured demo tapes and in studio freestyles that help break major artists such Nas, Jay-Z, Big Pun, Fat Joe, Dmx, Wu Tang Clan, Notorious BIG, Big L (RIP), Fugees, Talib Kweli, Cam'ron. The other aspect of their show that equalled the amazing talent showcase was the incredibly funny and sharp witted dialogue between Bobbito, Stretch, Lord Seer and others. People would actually call the show just to get dissed on the phone. The crazy amazingness of the show literally set the standard for what would be come hip hop college radio and most modern hip hop radio shows to this day. I could go into the myriad accomplishments of these cats but that would turn into a mini book, if you had a tape of their show though that was like having hip hop gold in the mid 90's. If you have never heard any of their show do yourself a big favor and listen to this and this!!!
I recently shot with my homey Pkilla's band SunHaze over at the Alameda naval base. We managed to pull it off without getting harassed to much from security and came away with some pretty cool shots. Check em out.
